Veterans Day
November 11th became a day to honor
American veterans of all wars. Later that same year, on October.8th, President
Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first "Veterans Day Proclamation"
which stated: "In order to insure proper and wide spread observance of
this anniversary, all veterans, all veterans' organizations, and the entire citizenry
will wish to join hands in the common purpose.” President Eisenhower signing
the document to place Veterans Day on November 11, changing Armistice Day to Veterans
Day.
Reflection: Veterans Day is a very
special day not because we don’t have school on that day but because we thank
our U.S. soldiers who fight for our freedom. For those who have fallen on the
line of duty to those with disorders we thank them for what fighting for this
country.
